Building the Future of Humanitarian Aid: local capacity, partnerships in disasters and the future of emergency aid
Join ALNAP and Christian Aid for a panel discussion to launch Christian Aid's report 'Building the Future of Humanitarian Aid: Local capacity, partnerships in disasters and the future of emergency aid.'
The report draws across experience of responding through local partners to over 80 humanitarian emergencies in the last 5 years, and identifies implications for donors, UN coordination structures and the wider humanitarian sector. Supported by ALNAP the event will convene a range of expertise to discuss the lessons highlighted by the report and examine how the international humanitarian system can learn to work more effectively with local capacities and structures.
Alongside Christian Aid, panellists will include Robert Roots from the British Red Cross and Jemilah Mahmood from Asian Disaster Reduction and Response Network and Humanitarian Futures Programme, KCL and DFID. John Mitchell, from ALNAP, will Chair the panel.
Following the panel event, you are cordially invited to a strategic discussion
