About us

SEEDS is a nonprofit voluntary organization aimed at strengthening resilience of communities to natural hazards, and a mission to equip the most vulnerable with appropriate tools and technologies, sharing knowledge and skills and prompting linkages among stakeholders to prevent suffering and loss of life..

SEEDS has a strong learning component in all its humanitarian interventions. The scales of intervention on the ground is limited however, learnings are shared widely among stakeholders through workshops and documentation. SEEDS work has positively influenced approaches to humanitarian action and disaster risk reduction in the region. In one of recent cases, recovery work undertaken in a single village with 250 families has been up-scaled and adopted by a provincial government to provide post flood housing to over 200,000 families.

More recently, the organization has actively sought to build accountability and performance based learning in its projects. SEEDS was the first Indian organization to become member of HAP. It is now actively promoting principles of accountability among civil society organizations in the country. Manu Gupta, Director SEEDS is currently serving as the member of the HAP Board.

SEEDS actively participates in national and regional networks to promote reflective learning from communities at risk. It actively promotes partnerships with Universities, learning institutions with the humanitarian agencies.
