The Peace Building & Protection Sector Advisor willprovide technical leadership to peace building and protection Sector in World Vision South Sudan (WVSS) operations. To lead project design, implementation and reporting based on Project designs and initiatives geared towards reducing conflicts and Protection of Children.
We are looking for a visionary leader who can combine strong business disciplines with inspirational spiritual leadership skills in line with our Christian values and ethos. You will have a passionate desire to help others, especially children.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
. Lead and direct the implementation of the WVSS Peace Building and Protection Strategy, including identifying on-going priority areas.
. Manage the WVSS Peace Building and Protection Sector budget.
. Define Peace Building and Protection focus areas relevant to WVSS ministry and in accordance with the practical and strategic needs of children;
. In collaboration with Policy Advocacy Manager, strengthen relationships with key stakeholders including government ministries, donors, UN agencies and NGOs to enable effective advocacy and policy influencing on Peace Building and Child Protection.
. Represent the Peace Building and Protection Team on the WVSS Senior Management Team.
REQUIRED SKILLS INCLUDE:
. Master's degree in Peace Building and Conflict Management, international development or another relevant field
. Minimum 5 years Peace Building and Protection experience
. Minimum 2 years field experience in a fragile context, preferably in South Sudan
. Experience of managing teams and budgets
. Extensive experience in models and methods of training, facilitation, capacity building and mediation
. Thorough knowledge of project management cycle and grant proposal writing
. Excellent experience in accessing programming resources, especially from donor governments
. Experience of implementing DNH/LCP/CPA (Child Protection Advocacy)
. Experience of developing systems to capture and measure the impact of Peace Building and Protection activities
. Highly experienced in representing and presenting at high level meetings
. Ability to live and work in difficult conditions
. PREFERRED: Excellent understanding of the dynamics of conflict resolution in the context of war and extensive knowledge of South Sudan preferred.
