The international work of the British Red Cross is managed by our International Division consisting of around eighty people based in the organisation's UK Office in London; the post of Humanitarian Policy Adviser lies within this Division and the post holder will have the chance to be part of an exciting and growing agenda.

The Humanitarian Policy team is made up of a small and dynamic group of advisers who are tasked with ensuring that our international work is informed by the external policy context. The post holder will be responsible for leading policy work on a range of issues, galvanising and working with others, with a specific focus on the following subjects:
. Resilience and, to a lesser extent, disaster risk reduction and climate change
. Humanitarian response in urban areas
. Policy support to major emergencies

The Humanitarian Policy Adviser will work closely with our operational teams in order to support learning, ensure that our international work is informed by current thinking and practice within the sector and the Movement, and to draw evidence from our programmes to support external engagement and advocacy. A key aspect of the role will be monitoring policy debates and trends in the Red Cross Movement and the global humanitarian sector.
