The Humanitarian and Conflict Response Institute (HCRI) at the University of Manchester is looking for a Programme Director for a new, unique Master's programme.

This post relates specifically to a collaboration between Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), the Humanitarian Conflict Response Institute at the University of Manchester and the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM). Working together, they have designed a higher education programme for MSF personnel called the Leadership Education Academic Partnership (LEAP) in order to deliver an educational Programme that will teach the leading humanitarians of tomorrow. Using a flexible learning approach, the Programme will consist of a portfolio of online and face-to-face taught master’s course units in, for example, research methods, the management of change and humanitarian management.

The primary role of the Programme Director is to develop, deliver and direct a bespoke MSc Humanitarian Practice programme for MSF personnel. The teaching material should be informed by field experience and research, and candidates will be expected to have a research agenda that keeps them informed of ongoing developments in the field of humanitarian studies. After the initial set-up phase, and with satisfactory project set-up and progress, it is envisaged that this programme and the position of Programme Director will become sustainable in the longer term.
