Country Manager - DRC
Organisation: International Alert
Posted on: 16 April 2012
Application deadline: 9 May 2012
Alert is recruiting for a new DRC Country Manager for the Africa Programme. The post will be based in Eastern DRC and will involve frequent travel within and outside the region.
We are looking for a dynamic leader with strong management skills, who has a proven ability to lead and mentor a team as well as complex partnership relationships, and who is a creative facilitator of sensitive multi-stakeholder processes.
With responsibility for all legal, reputational, relational, strategic, administrative and other aspects of the programme, you will oversee the successful transition to a larger, more efficient and well managed DRC operation. This includes supervising the implementation of current activities, taking responsibility for sound operational management as well as monitoring and reporting on impact. You will ensure that the programme is appropriately resourced and that Alert's contribution to peacebuilding in the DRC is maximised. You will achieve this through working closely with Alert's wider Africa Programme, taking an active role in regional strategy and cross-programmatic developments.
Educated to post graduate degree level you will have significant experience of operational management in an NGO, including responsibility for programming, staffing, financial and administrative systems. You will be able to demonstrate success in designing, financing and delivering peacebuilding related programmes. Writing and speaking French and English fluently is also essential.
