In the wake of Cyclone Idai’s aftermath in March 2019, the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) launched an appeal to address the cyclone’s impact in the three countries of Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe.   To support its member agencies in improving their response and as part of its public accountability for the use of the funds raised through the Cyclone Idai Appeal, the DEC commissioned an independent real-time response review.  The aim of the review was to generate reflection and learning in a participatory manner whilst the project was being implemented.

This report is one of three country reports (Mozambique, Malawi, Zimbabwe), which are complemented by a synthesis report which provides overarching findings and recommendations.  They can all be read in conjunction with one another or as standalone reports.
