This case study highlights how community-based disaster management (CBDM) interventions contributed to enhancing sustainable flood proofing measures in the selected municipalities of
Bangladesh. The lessons learned through the BUDMP experience show how small-scale external interventions can encourage the community to integrate and build upon indigenous knowledge and techniques to achieve livelihood security.
