Whilst using area-based approaches in urban settings is increasingly being discussed in policy and operational forums, a shared understanding of what an appropriate area-based approach entails and how to deliver such an approach in a crisis has yet to be reached . It is clear that there are both positive and negative impacts of 2 using such approaches in urban settings. More must be done to develop a shared understanding of area-based approaches across the sector, and establish good practice in the design and coordination of such approaches.
