The aim of this rapid assessment was to:

  • Determine the nature, magnitude, pattern, distribution, dynamics and causes of child labour in agriculture for both Jordanian and Syrian refugees in relation to the study areas;
  • Establish the socio-economic characteristics of the working children and their families; and
  • Investigate the effects of child labour on the health, safety, education and rights of the working children;

The assessment covered Jordan Valley and Mafraq that include agriculture as one of the main sources of income for the people. It included a rapid assessment of 215 households with working children, as well as a desk review.
